Audio versions of "War & Peace"

Updated: Feb 15, 2022

As requested, here are some versions of War and Peace you can listen to! If you prefer to read it, let me know if you would like me to scan pages from my book (Briggs translation). You can also find the Maude translation free on Project Gutenberg.

LibriVox (Maude translation):

Scribd (Maude translation)

Audible (Maude translation; costs money):

Audible (Briggs translation; costs money):

You are welcome to use others as well, these were just the only ones I could find. Most other free audiobook versions are the Dole translation, which isn't ideal because it wasn't one of the versions Dave Malloy used. Reminder if you would like to search for your own, the translations used by Dave Malloy are:

  • Aylmer and Louise Maude’s 1922 translation

  • Anthony Briggs

  • Richard Pevear & Larissa Volokhonsky

  • Constance Garnett

Happy reading! As always, let me know if you have any questions.
